AESTHETICA SHORT FILM FESTIVAL NOW OPEN FOR ENTRIES

AESTHETICA SHORT FILM FESTIVAL NOW OPEN FOR ENTRIES

The Aesthetica Short Film Festival is a great opportunity for students to engage with an international platform. To kick-start your students’ careers in the film industry, we’re looking for short films of up to 25 minutes to screen at ASFF 2012. Several student/graduate films were screened at our festival in 2011 including our winner in the Best Art Film category.

ASFF 2012 takes place in the historic city of York from 8 – 11 November. The screenings will cover a wide variety of genres and filmic styles, including: drama, documentary, animation, comedy, music video, thriller, experimental and artists’ film. The films will be showcased across 15 iconic locations in the city, from medieval halls to boutique cinemas and in addition to four days of screenings there will also be a series of master classes, workshops and networking with leading industry figures.

The winner will also receive £500 among other prizes and screenings at a number of other UK festivals and the runner-up will receive £250. A shortlist of finalists will be included on the ASFF Sampler DVD, which will be distributed with the December 2012 issue of Aesthetica Magazine, the international arts and culture publication. Finalists will also be included in an editorial feature in the magazine.

Otsego County ARt Contest

Student Artists,
LEAF, Inc. is sponsoring a Fine Art Contest to help raise awareness of substance abuse issues!

This year we have a grand prize of $500, two $300 first prizes, two $200 second prizes and two $100 third prizes. There will also be a Poetry Competition (more info on that later)!

The contest is only being advertised in Otsego County but is open to all regardless of location. There is an adult category as well as an under 18 category.

Work can be in any medium, figurative or abstract, 2D or 3D as long as it is 100% original.

The deadline is April 15, 2012 and the theme this year is “Above the Influence”. LEAF isn’t looking for ‘poster art’ but rather for striking images that inspire people to think about the effects of culture, media and fashion on decision making.

We’re planning an opening at the UCCCA Gallery in the Wilber Mansion for Friday, April 27th with the show continuing through the weekend.
